about

Warm Tones is a folk song at heart, largely influenced by Rafael’s roots in the genre. It is a melancholy and uneasy journey made even more expressive by Joseph's orchestral and ambient bass tracks and Ben's dynamic percussive framework. Rafael recalls being initially unsure if the song had a place in the shadow work discography, but was pleasantly surprised by Ben's and Joseph's enthusiasm. They happily incorporated their ideas into the track. This track represents our desire to wander outside of our creative comfort zones and keep bringing something new to the table.

lyrics

Pressure
It’s all that my body calls for
Relentless sycamore tree
Restless like me
And answers
Mistakes happen so commonly
Roughed up by the leaves

And I hope you see I’m trying
Destitute of home
The lamp shade holds the silence
Becoming what I’ve known
And I’m searching for a presence
Something of my own

And I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine
I misunderstood
I sound like my father
And come back and say I’m good
So good
I feel up with pressure
And I just get higher
Can’t stop
So good
Can’t stop
